Arisaig Adventure
From: £150.00
The Arisaig Adventure sea kayaking expedition explores a stunning section of the West Coast of Scotland. This scenic two-day route meanders through the skerries off the coast of Arisaig under the curious eyes of hundreds of seals. You then journey up the coastline to Mallaig, with the beautiful islands of Eig and Rhum as your backdrop. You will then paddle to the silver sands of Morar to set up camp. Stroll down the beach as the sun sets and the stars come out and enjoy a taste of wild camping. There is no better way to wake up than unzipping your tent to a breath-taking view across the water. The second day of this adventurous expedition is spent sea kayaking back to Arisaig.
This expedition is moderately challenging, and suitable for those who are confident in water and have some previous kayaking experience. It is a great option for those who want a taste of adventure without a huge undertaking, or you don’t have time for a longer trip.
Your sea kayaking expedition starts in Arisaig, a stunning coastal town in the West of Scotland just North of Fort William. You will meet here to pack your kayaks for the journey ahead. The morning will be spent exploring the hundreds of skerries that form the Sound of Arisaig. There are numerous white sandy beaches and you will be spoilt for choice for the perfect picnic spot. The wildlife in this area is unbeatable, and you are guaranteed to be surrounded by seals. After a good dose of wildlife watching, you will head North up the coast in the direction of Mallaig.
Your campsite for the evening is the iconic and stunning silver sands of Morar. With tents set up, enjoy an evening stroll down the beach before cooking your dinner under the stars. Sip a whisky and enjoy the tranquillity of a night wild camping in the great Scottish outdoors.
Wake up to the sound of seagulls and the smell of the salty sea. Enjoy a relaxed morning and take in your surroundings before heading back down the coast to the Sound of Arisaig. With a clear view across the sea, the distinctive profiles of the islands of Rhum and Eig make a breath-taking view. As you head back through the skerries, you will find yourself once again paddling amongst the seals, cormorants, herons and if you’re lucky, maybe even otters. The sea kayaking expedition ends back on the banks of Arisaig.
