Learn to Multi Pitch climb in Aviemore, Cairngorms & Scotland. Multi pitch climbing is combining a number pitches on the ascent of a route with intermediate belay stances and stops.
Moving from a single pitch environment into the multi pitch ascents requires the climber to be effective and efficient in their rope management and how they set up the belay stance safely. The learn to multi pitch climbing days in Aviemore & the cairngorms are designed to develop current knowledge and skill of rock climbing. We will go where looks appropriate around the Cairngorms & Scotland with regards to weather, your abilities/preferences and what routes will be appropriate. This might include utilising some of the mountain crags like the northern corries or possibly some of the lower valley crags like Polldubh or Dunkeld.
Important Information
The one day course gives you an introduction to what multi pitch climbing is with an option to extend to up to 5 days. If you require accommodation if you opt for a 2-5 day course this can be provided on a self catered basis at Craigower Lodge, Newtonmore for £19 per night.
Lead climbing is available for private one to two tuition, ideally you want to book on with a climbing partner to get the most out of your day. Transport (pick up & drop off) is available from Newtonmore & Kingussie if required. Packed lunches can be provided at £6.50pp (pre order essential).
Pre-requisites and Prior Experience
For multi pitch climbing we ask you to be able to climb confidently on a Diff climb route, have your own climbing shoes & harness. Some indoor/outdoor climbing experience is required and/or attended Actives; Lead Climbing sessions.

What to Bring
- Rock climbing shoes.
- Travel insurance (don’t bring it just make sure you have it).
- personal mediccation.
- Warm layers, waterproofs, hats, gloves.
- Suncream/sunglasses.
- Lunch, water.
- Rucksack.
- suitable clothing Ideally flexible as this helps climbing.
